A south side native of “The Windy City,” Chicago, Illinois CTG is an artist on the rise. A rapper, producer, and songwriter are only a few titles that the talented artist has under his belt. Born as, “Jerron Yarbrough,” Growing up CTG often moved and was raised threw out different parts of Chicago, mostly the south and eastside of town and between the serene suburbs of Illinois to the projects in Indiana. CTG started doing poetry which evolved into CTG rapping over beats with dreams that many share but the talent and determination that few have.
CTG began rapping as a hobby at the age of 12 free styling lyrics of what ever came to mind with friends and his oldest brother. By 14, CTG took the hobby to a serious level and began to pursue rapping as a career and started recording. In 2008 at the age of 19 CTG started recording under the independent label, CWAL Mob Recordings (Creators Way Associated Label) now known as Traxster Inc.
In 2010, CTG Began pursuing his music career as a solo artist departing from the CWAL Mob brand he began recording and to create his last project under the label. This was a buzz worthy mix tape titled “CTG The Name Compilation”. The mix tape consists of a variety of hood anthems, club joints, and CTG’s views of life itself. In addition, the production of “CTG THE Name Compilation” reflects a combination of great lyrics, concepts, & a phenomenal beat selection. From club joints to conscious selections. CTG is never bland but versatile in all aspects as an artist.
By performing outstanding shows, and shining on spotlight features, CTG is establishing a relevant presence on the Chicago music scene. Truly through these few years, CTG is growing and advancing as an artist and savvy business man & partner. In early 2011 CTG among other very talented peers helped create indie label 9TO5 Music Group where CTG began working with talented producer/songwriter/artist, Genius Picaso and songwriter/rapper/singer, SB VIBES with plans to release a collaboration album in the near future.
Throughout CTG’s entire career, CTG worked with super producer of Wiz Khalifa, Chevy Woods, and T.I, Ryan M. “RMB Justize” Baker. The two have been the pair of hands that has carried CTG’s music career into today. In 2011 CTG released his solo debut EP “The Life I Live” also being produced by RMB Justize under indie label 9TO5 Music Group.
Hitting the stage with profound artists such as L.E.P. Bogus Boys, The Boy Illinois, and Reno Chinati, CTG’s uniqueness and talent to stand out as an artist in a industry full of different talents, artists and genres is remarkable.
